“Oh, my, Jasiah, what a big boy you are now. You have a room to yourself. I’m really, really proud,” said Jasiah’s mom as she kissed him on his head. She pulled up his covers and tucked him into bed.
“But I don’t want to sleep alone,” cried Jasiah. “This isn’t fair. I want to sleep with you, Mom. I’m really, really scared!”

Jasiah did not feel brave as he looked around, he could hear weird strange peculiar sounds. He noticed things he’d never seen before, such as creepy shadows on the wall.
Branches scratched at his window, and there was a scary sort of echo. A gusty wind whistled and howled; a nearby dog barked and growled.
